Step-by-Step Aarti Vidhi (Ritual & Rules)
Aarti (आरती) is the culmination of Hindu worship where a lit lamp (diya) or burning camphor (kapur) is rotated in front of the deity with sacred songs and bell ringing, signifying the elimination of darkness by divine light.
Thali Preparation (आरती थाली)
Use a brass or silver thali. Place a ghee lamp or camphor, Kumkum, Akshata, fresh flowers, and a small bell (Ghanti).
Specific Rotation Technique (थाली घुमाने का नियम)
- Rotate the lit lamp clockwise in front of the deity in a slow, rhythmic circle.
- 4 times at the feet of the Lord.
- 2 times at the navel (Nabhi).
- 1 time at the lotus face (Mukh).
- 7 times around the entire body of the deity.
Receiving Divine Grace & Prasad
After completing the Aarti, cup your hands over the flame to absorb the warm divine energy and gently touch your eyes and forehead. Distribute Prasad to all present.
